New Career Paths to the 娇色导航Role This month, our newly appointed CIOs have an interesting array of backgrounds: a former head of global securities, a PhD with experience in clinical development, a CEO of an e-commerce company. I have spent many hours of my life writing about the business leadership roles open to CIOs once they’ve done their time in IT. The new CIOs at the top of this blog are going in the reverse direction. Certainly, many of our movers and shakers bring a more traditional background to their new 娇色导航role, but this new diversity of experience is a burgeoning trend that is sure to have a major impact on the relationship between IT and the business. PPD, Inc. has appointed Mike Wilkinson, Ph.D., as 娇色导航where he will provide strategic direction for PPD’s development and deployment of innovative ideas and technology and will oversee the integration of technology initiatives with process improvement, business analytics and global training programs. For the last two years, Wilkinson served as executive vice president of global clinical development with responsibility for PPD’s Phase II-IV operations across North America; Latin America; Europe, Middle East and Africa; and Asia Pacific. Prior to joining PPD, he was global head of internal medicine and vice president of project management for another contract research organization. Penson Worldwide has named Andrew Konchan as CIO. Konchan comes to Penson from Fortis Clearing Americas, where he was 娇色导航and Managing Director. From 2002-2009, Konchan was with ABN AMRO in Chicago and its acquirer, Fortis. He was named ABN AMRO’s Director of Financial Markets E-Commerce in 2002, Head of Corporate FX and Derivatives Administration in 2004, and Head of the Global Securities and Trust Services Platform Group in 2006. FedBid, an online commodities exchange, announced that is the company’s new CTO. Sorisi was CEO of B2X and held senior technology leadership positions at Platform Learning, Columbia House Company, USA Networks, and Ticketmaster. is resigning from his position as 娇色导航of Partners HealthCare to take over as CEO of the hospital software division of the Germany-based conglomerate Siemens. Glaser has been 娇色导航of Partners, the Boston-based health system that includes Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, among others, since 1995. He has recently been advising President Barack Obama’s administration on its $19 billion effort to boost adoption of electronic health records across the country., the State of Massachusetts’ head information technology officer, will return to Harvard in early September to assume the post of CIO. Margulies first joined Harvard in 1986 to oversee the construction of the University’s telephone and data communications network, a project that involved the rewiring of more than 200 buildings over the course of five years. With more than 30 years of experience in information technology, administrative leadership, and strategic planning under her belt, Margulies will be filling the vacancy left by Daniel D. Moriarty, who resigned in late 2009. Madelyn Lankton is the new 娇色导航The Travelers Cos, the company recently announced. Lankton has worked at Travelers since 1982, mostly with the life and annuity business which was sold to MetLife in 2005. Lankton joined the property-casualty business in 2003 and has worked in a variety of positions in Travelers’ Information Technology and Operations. Most recently, she was senior vice president of Claim Shared Services. Last year, she took on the added responsibility of IT and Operations for Financial Professional & International Insurance. Order Catcher LLC, a voice recognition systems company, announced the appointment of Jose Eiras as CIO. Eiras’s career has included positions as 娇色导航DHL -North America and General Motors. He recently authored the book “The Practical CIO.” Electronic security company Protection One, has appointed as CIO, responsible for building systems to enhance the customer experience, overseeing all monitoring operations and spearheading the continued development of the company’s products and services. Young has more than 22 years of experience in IT and call center management and has developed numerous systems to improve operational efficiencies within the security monitoring industry. He began his career as a computer programmer in the Air Force before joining the private sector. NTN Buzztime, Inc., and interactive restaurant entertainment networks, announced that has joined the company as CIO. George previously served as an outside consultant to NTN Buzztime with a focus on optimizing and updating the company’s infrastructure to support strategic growth plans, streamlining operations and implementing an ERP system. Railinc Corp., an freight rail industry information services firm, recently announced that was promoted to CIO. In his new role, Simora will be responsible for providing the vision and leadership for Railinc’s data, product development and information systems platforms. He will also lead activities around company strategy and innovation. Simora joined Railinc in 2007 as assistant vice president, product development, with responsibility for the strategic technical direction and delivery of all Railinc information technology products. Prior to joining Railinc, Simora was director of IT for Tekelec, a telecommunications company based in Morrisville, N.C. He served as an IT manager for General Electric in both domestic and international roles. Genuine Parts Company announced today that has been named VP of Information Technology.
